Orange Beach ChartersThe Hangout Music Fest (May 17-19) promises both fun and great music at Alabama’s Gulf Coast. You can make this weekend even more special by planning a fishing trip. Get six of your friends, family members and buddies, and charter a boat to fish for 6, 8 or 10 hours. You’ll still reach port in plenty of time to shower, eat some of the fish you’ve caught and had cooked at a local restaurant and then go to the beach to enjoy the music and have a great time. Too, you can charter an inshore trip for flounder and be back at the dock before the sun climbs high in the sky.

To fish from the beach or at the Gulf State Park Pier in Gulf Shores that’s open to the public 24 hours each day, 7 days a week (251-967-3474, www.alapark.com/GulfState/Gulf%20State%20Park%20Pier/ for more information), bring your freshwater rods. Or, get with one of the area’s shore fishermen like David Thornton (251-458-2775, pierpounder@alabamasnaturalcoast.net) to learn where to fish, how to fish and where to catch the most fish. The good news about fishing during Hangout Weekend is you can fish as much or as little as you want, and whenever you wish. You can go on a 3 to 10 hour trip and custom-make your trip to fit into your concert schedule.
